Bishops call for aid for Mozambique cyclone victims

Humanitarian Aid, Mozambique

The Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference has appealed to the faithful to respond to the victims of Cyclone Idai. The SACBC has already sent financial aid to Mozambiqe, Zimbabwe and Malawi – but much more still needs to be done.

“During this time of Lent, we ask people of goodwill to be more generous in their contribution, so that the church can continue to help the affected people,” a letter from the SACBC states.

Vincentians around the country have already begun collecting emergency supplies for the victims of the cyclone. Last Sunday, St Thomas More Conference assembled 15 large bags of clothing and shoes, medical supplies, soap and sanitary towels, and 20 bags of samp for the people of Zimbabwe. Thank you to everyone who made donations.
