Despite lockdown restrictions, our Table View Conference in the Western Cape, has continued to reach out to the poor and hungry over the past year.
On World Day of the Poor (Sunday 15 November 2020) the conference partnered with Mothers That Care to turn 228 donated loaves into 2050 sandwiches for distribution to local schools, feeding schemes, care centres, and to the car guards in Melkbosstrand. Grateful thanks to all who donated bread, fillings and cash for this initiative.
The conference also continued packing and distributing food parcels, blankets, and soup jars. These are recycled coffee and mayonnaise jars filled with dry ingredients (rice, lentils, soup mix and stock powder). All recipients need to do is add the mixture to a pot of water and cook to enjoy a delicious bowl of soup.
Parishioners also heeded the call to get knitting … beanies, jerseys, teddies and mittens … which were distributed to needy children in Atlantis on Women’s Day. Another special initiative was preparing and distributing care packs for women and girls who have been abused. The packs contained soap, deodorant, body lotion, sanitary pads and toothbrushes/toothpaste. Essential everyday items that so many disadvantaged women are not able to buy for themselves.
Grateful thanks to all who participated or contributed in any way. May God bless you.
