Christmas comes early

Christmas shirt

Christmas came early to many poor people who felt the warmth of human kindness in the form of much needed gifts of food and clothing.

Our Lady Of Sorrows in Nigel has spent the past two weeks distributing 90 food parcels, 90 loaves of bread and 90kg of carrots in Jameson Park, while the Holy Redeemer Conference was kept busy running a soup kitchen and passing on donated clothing. We love the look of joy on this elderly man’s face, as he receives the gift of a new shirt for Christmas. Smiles like this make our work so rewarding.

On Saturday 19 November, St Rose Conference in Boemfontein, prepared 100 loaves and distributed them to job seekers waiting at the robots and street corners. Trying to find work is a soul destroying activity for so many people right now, as there simply aren’t enough jobs to go round. But at least these job seekers did not return empty handed to their families. If we can light just a tiny spark of hope, and bring just a little comfort to people like this, then our work has been worthwhile indeed.

Thank you to all our donors and supporters, who contribute gifts of food, clothing and cash to make our work possible. May God shower His blessing upon you and your loved ones this festive season.
