Heart of our work

Our core work involves alleviating the worst human suffering in areas of abject poverty – where families live in homes made of cardboard or thin plastic … where unemployment and malnutrition is rife … and where parents are dying and leaving children to care for one another.

We help the hungry, the homeless, the sick, vulnerable children and destitute aged.

And because most of the work is done by volunteers, almost every cent you donate goes directly to helping those in need.

If we all shared a little of what we have with someone who has nothing – no one would go to bed hungry tonight

Please read the sentence above again. It’s quite a revelation to know that there is no shortage of food in the world. We have more than enough to feed every person on the planet.

But every year, we destroy or waste 1.3 billion tons of food – about one-fifth of what is produced – rather than give it away to people who are starving.

As Christians we know what we must do. Reach out to those who are suffering. Not as an act of charity. But in the sincere and generous belief that we should help shoulder one another’s burdens, so that no one is left behind or goes without.

In South Africa today, there are ample opportunities to make a difference. Everywhere you look you see poverty. Our unemployment rate is skyrocketing, food and transport costs are rising, and the economy is failing. For those who no longer have access to the necessities of life – and food is the most basic need of all – it’s easy to lose all hope of a better future.

Unless others … people who believe that everyone has the right to  sufficient food … step in to help.

You don’t have to be rich. All you need is a compassionate heart, and the willingness to share a little of what you have with someone who has nothing.

Donate now

Donations of any amount are appreciated and will make a difference. As little as R50 buys five loaves of bread. Add another R50 for a jar of peanut butter, and we can give ten starving children a nutritious sandwich.

R85 buys a 10kg bag of maize meal or 5kg of rice … R270 buys 5l of cooking oil. Whatever you can spare right now helps pay for cans of tuna, polony, soup mix, fresh veggies and a little chicken meat.

So please, will you make the decision to help feed a starving person today?

Thank you and may God bless you for your compassion and kindness.
