After ongoing lockdowns forced us to abandon our soup kitchen, SSVP members in Nigel decided to distribute sandwiches instead. Every Tuesday for the past 12 months, they have prepared 90 sandwiches with butter, cheese and polony and served parking attendants and collectors of recycling materials (cardboard, tins, etc) in the area.
A humble brown bread sandwich doesn’t seem like much. But to someone who isn’t sure where their next meal will come from, it’s a real blessing. There is also something very heartwarming and uplifting about being given a gift of food from a stranger. This really is Our Lord’s love in action. Well done to our team!
