Juan Manuel Buergo Gómez has been elected as the 17th President General of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SSVP), succeeding Renato Lima de Oliveira. His inauguration is scheduled for September in Paris, coinciding with the feast of Blessed Antoine Frédéric Ozanam. The election took place during the SSVP General Assembly on June 13.
After being elected, Juan Manuel Buergo Gómez addressed the attendees of the Assembly and SSVP members worldwide through a live broadcast by Ozanam TV.
During the same event, several initiatives were launched to enhance the SSVP International’s communication and development:
- Global Report: A comprehensive report on the activities of the Council General International, including information on the 154 member countries of the Confederation.
- Manual for the Revitalization of Conferences: A document providing methodology and guidelines to improve the quality and quantity of action and prayer groups within the SSVP.
- Guidelines for National Youth Committees: Aimed at empowering and highlighting the role of young people in the SSVP Superior Councils.
