Dear Brothers and Sisters
Warm Vincentian greetings to you all!
September not only heralds Spring, but is a significant month in the Vincentian calendar, with two special festivals to commemorate.
Part of our SSVP heritage is to promote unity by celebrating liturgical and Vincentian feast days. We do this to maintain a spirit of profound friendship among the members, to deepen our spirituality, to share experiences and to provide information to improve our Society’s service to the poor.
Two feasts occur in September which should be celebrated on each of closest Sundays:
9 September – Feast of Blessed Fréderic Ozanam
27 September – Feast of Saint Vincent de Paul
We encourage each Conference to attend mass together and to celebrate these special occasions. We would love to receive your photographs and accounts of the days.
In Johannesburg, we will celebrate the feast of Blessed Fréderic Ozanam, at a Mass at St Anthony’s, Coronationville, on Thursday 9 September at 08h00, followed by refreshments at Fréderic Place (which is named after Fréderic Ozanam). Please join us if you can.
To honour our founders and continue their work, we want to distribute more food parcels to areas badly hit by the unrest. Please spread the message and encourage others to help.
Your Brother in St Vincent and BL Frederic Ozanam.
