Online tools for Youth Workshop

CV and career skills development

In celebration of youth month, the National Youth Council (NYC) of the SSVP hosted a series of online CV skills and career development workshops.

Based on the international youth month theme of Sharing Hope and Charity, “we decided to inspire hope by focusing on developing skills to bridge the unemployment gap which plagues the youth of our country,” said NYC President, Boipelo Mathodlana.

The effects of the national lockdown in our country are already being felt. Job insecurity and losses have put more families in need of assistance. We feel that it is important to focus on our youth, who may find themselves left behind in a world that is quickly adapting to remote and online tools to survive.

The skills development sessions were conducted in online group sessions where the youth could engage with each other, collaborate and learn together. Group sessions were followed by individual in-depth sessions via data friendly social media platform, WhatsApp, to ensure that their learnings were relevant to their own growth.

Feedback from participants was very positive. So we will continue this series of workshops beyond youth month. In this way, the NYC will continue to share hope of a brighter tomorrow, whilst serving the needs of our youth today!
