By Michelle Masimba (a young SSVP volunteer at St Charles)
I had a wonderful morning on Saturday 7 May at St Catherine of Siena parish (Eldorado Park), with other SSVP youth from St John’s (Northriding), Blessed Joseph Gerald (Freedom Park) and St Patrick’s (La Rochelle). We packed food parcels for their community. It was truly a fulfilling experience as we got to see first hand the impact the Society makes in the community. We may not always realise it, but the little that we do definitely makes a big difference in the life of others.
I joined the Society because I wanted to be more involved with serving and assisting the community. I truly discovered my passion for assisting others in any little way that I could. Being a part of the society brought me joy and fulfillment, whether it was making food and selling at the braai on Sundays, packing food parcels or making sandwiches. I am alway happy to help in any way that I can.
Being a part of the Society has given me the opportunity to be more grateful to God and I believe it has also helped me become closer to God and stronger in my faith. I highly encourage the youth of St Charles to join the SSVP because what better way to serve the Lord than by serving his people.
