Our St Jude’s Conference in Vredenburg commemorated its 25th anniversary in 2025. Looking back, it’s amazing how far they’ve come. Starting with just four founding members … no financial resources … no established outreach to those in need …. and limited experience in carrying out the mission of SSVP, they’ve grown and flourished over the years.
But what they did have in abundance was passion and faith! Through the Lord’s grace and blessings, they strongly believed that they could share the Good News with impoverished members of their community, overcome obstacles, grow their membership, and reach out to generous benefactors to sustain their work.
Over 300 000 people have been served
Today, nearly 300 000 beneficiaries bear witness to their work over the past 25 years. Beyond food, St Jude’s has brought hope to the hopeless, joy amid sorrow, solace to the lonely, warmth in winter, and faith that pleas for help would be heard and answered.
Looking ahead, St Jude’s is planning to reach over 15 000 beneficiaries in 2026 – providing regular food hampers, community and school feeding schemes and assistance to disabled members of the community. They will also provide relief to the homeless and people in crisis.
But they can’t do it alone – donor support is crucial. Every donation is gratefully received and ensures the work of this, and other SSVP conferences around the country, can continue. Thanks to all who support our Vincentians, and keep the light of hope shining bright in disadvantaged communities.
