Apart from the new shoes sponsored by generous donors, our Blessed Joseph Gerard conference in Freedom Park received a donation of second-hand school shoes from Milpark Girls High. Most of the shoes were in very good condition and we are so grateful to the girls for their generosity in donating their unwanted or outgrown footwear.
Recipients of the second hand shoes were delighted. Knowing they could go back to school in comfort and dignity was a special blessing for those who have never known the luxury of owning a new pair of shoes.
We pray for the day when all our nation’s children can count on having enough of life’s essentials – food, clothing and access to medical care. Until then, we keep doing what we do, honoured to be the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing relief, care and hope to the poor, the sick and the suffering.
